Description:

This is a unique oleograph print of the Prince and Princess of Wales, later known as King George V and Queen Mary, during their tour of India and Burma from November 1905 to March 1906. This artwork was painted by the renowned Indian artist M.V. Dhurandhar and is a rare find! The title of the painting is ‘A Souvenir of the Visit of Their Royal Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of Wales to India.’

Their visit aimed to strengthen ties between the British Crown and the Indian subcontinent. This tour not only deepened the royal couple’s appreciation for India but also played a significant role in shaping future British-Indian relations. Their experiences and observations during this journey influenced their perspectives, as evidenced by their return to India in 1911 for the Coronation Durbar in Delhi (the last Durbar) as Emperor and Empress of India.
