Description:

Here is an Archival print from 1950s of The Gulf of Marseilles Seen from L'Estaque by Paul Cézanne in 1885.

About the Painting:

"The Gulf of Marseilles Seen from L'Estaque" is a stunning landscape painting that captures the beauty and majesty of the Mediterranean coast. L'Estaque was a popular destination for artists in the 19th and 20th centuries. This piece of art showcases Paul Cézanne's unique artistic style and his ability to convey the beauty and majesty of the natural world through his brushstrokes. The vibrant colors used in the piece, including blues, greens, and yellows, give the painting a sense of life and energy, and help to convey the majesty of the natural world.

About the Artist:

Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) was a French artist born in Aix en Provence, France. He is known as the father of Post-Impressionism. Post-Impressionism emerged as a reaction against Impressionists' concern for the naturalistic depiction of light and colour.

Cézanne rejected the theories of Impressionist, theories of light. He wasn’t interested in the momentary light effects and reflections. We could see no recognizable light  source in many of his paintings, therefore no heavy shadows. The lights are even, colors are in equal weight wherever they appear in the picture. But this quality was not accepted during his time but later his work laid the foundations to many artists in the coming century. Which made him the father of Post-Impressionism.  Between 1879 and 1885 he tried many more times to enter work for salon but apart from one success, all ended in rejection. Rejections and criticism didn’t stop him. He kept painting until his death.

Pablo Picasso said,” Cezanne! Cézanne was the father of all of us.” Picasso's stylistic evolution over his next seven decades, he continued to borrow from and reinterpret Cézanne's art. Also Henri Matisse says about Cezanne “A kind of dear god of painting.”!!

What Is a Archival Print :

When it comes to fine art printing, several technical factors differentiate each technique and medium. Museum-quality prints use refined pigment particles to create captivating, finished artwork. It is also known as archival or Giclee prints, museum-quality images are subjects that undergo a sophisticated printing method using an inkjet printer. These illustrations use color-matching techniques and utilize high-quality archival ink and materials that a gallery or museum would approve. It’s worth noting that owning museum-quality prints is relatively close to owning original artwork.
