Description:
Here is an exquisite miniature painting in watercolour, created in the 1970s by an unknown artist from Himachal Pradesh. The composition and gestures clearly echo the Ras Leela or Viraha moments from Krishna lore, where the Gopikas wander through the groves of Vrindavan in search of Radha and Krishna, following the foot-Prints of Krishna with devotion and longing. The woman bending near the tree, the pointing gestures, and the quiet moonlit landscape beautifully capture that bhava of separation and divine yearning.
This miniature painting belongs to the Pahari school and was painted in delicate watercolours about fifty years ago. Framed in unknown wood with a natural fabric mount, it holds a soft, meditative charm, a small window into the eternal love of Radha and Krishna.
