Description:
Here is an Archival print of a well-known beautiful iconography present at the North Portal of the Chartres Cathedral in France. The sculpture can be found on the north side of the cathedral, near the entrance. It is one of the small sculptures among many located on the left half of the two external arches (voussoirs) where the artist had expressed the scene of God’s creation. The creation of Adam and Eve is located at the very top of the arch. And this sculpture is the 5th figure in the row, depicting God creating humanity by his imagination by letting its future potential mature in the back of his mind. It is called ‘God conception of humanity in his mind’. According to the Christian tradition, God created humanity in his image and likeness, and this sculpture is a representation of that belief. It is a powerful and meaningful piece of art that has been admired by visitors for centuries.
About the North Portal of the Chartres Cathedral, France:
This church was built following a fire that largely destroyed the previous church in 1194, the new choir being complete by 1221, and the whole building consecrated in 1260 as one of the most compelling expressions of the strength and poetry of medieval Catholicism.
It is built in Romanesque styles with a flamboyant north spire. This cathedral was designated a World heritage site by UNESCO in 1979, which called it "the high point of french Gothic art" and a "masterpiece".
What Is a Archival Print :
When it comes to fine art printing, several technical factors differentiate each technique and medium. Museum-quality prints use refined pigment particles to create captivating, finished artwork. It is also known as archival or Giclee prints, museum-quality images are subjects that undergo a sophisticated printing method using an inkjet printer. These illustrations use color-matching techniques and utilize high-quality archival ink and materials that a gallery or museum would approve. It’s worth noting that owning museum-quality prints is relatively close to owning original artwork.
