Description:

A striking European oleograph print from the late early 1900s, this print depicts Elena, the Queen of Italy, Queen of the Albanians and Empress of Ethiopia, draped in pearls, lace, and fur, with a delicately rendered jeweled crown. She was the wife of King Victor Emmanuel III.

Elena of Montenegro (born in 1873), was widely admired for her grace and compassion. Renowned for her charitable work, she played a vital role during World War I, serving as a nurse and converting parts of the Quirinal Palace into hospitals to care for the wounded. Deeply dedicated to the well-being of the Italian people, she became a beloved figure across the country. Her legacy of service and kindness continues to resonate so much so that the Catholic Church has begun the process of canonizing her, bestowing upon her the title ‘Servant of God’.
