About the Artist, Clarkson Frederick Stanfield;

       Clarkson Frederick Stanfield was a famous British artist known for his remarkable contributions to the field of maritime painting and scene design.

Stanfield’s parents were James Field Stanfield (Father), a naval officer in the British Royal Navy and Mary Hoad (Mother), an artist and actress. He was born to them in Sunderland, England, in 1793.

Stanfield hailed from a family with a long history of seafaring and maritime trade. It is evident that his family background played a significant role in shaping his interest in maritime subjects and ultimately influencing his career as an artist specializing in marine painting.

People liked his paintings a lot, and he became a member of the Royal Academy in 1835. Stanfield's paintings showed exciting moments on the sea, and he was very good at making the water and sky look realistic. He painted both old and new events about ships and the sea. Stanfield was so good at painting that many other artists looked up to him. He kept painting until he passed away in 1867, leaving behind many beautiful paintings for people to enjoy.
