Here we present a lovely chromolithograph print of “Bowl of Peaches” from the 19th century. It is believed to be produced from the original painting “Bowl of Peaches” by Francesca Alexander a.k.a. Fanny Alexander from 1900s.
About the Artist;
Francesca Alexander(1837–1917), born Esther Frances Alexander in Boston, was an American illustrator, author, folklorist, and translator. Moving to Florence, Italy, at 16, she documented Tuscan folk culture through her art and writings. Her work gained recognition when John Ruskin published her illustrated collections, including “The Story of Ida” and “Roadside Songs of Tuscany.” Known for her spiritual and simple illustrations, Alexander’s legacy includes significant contributions to the preservation of Italian folklore and culture.
During her final stages, Alexander was blind and in poor health, and died in Florence on January 21, 1917.
