Dhokra/Dokra is a non-ferrous metal casting technique using the lost-wax casting method. This ancient technique has been practiced in India for over 5700 years. One of the earliest known artifacts created using the lost-wax method is the dancing girl of Mohenjo-daro. The lost-wax process, also known as cire-perdue, involves creating a wax model, which is then encased in a mold. Molten metal is poured into the mold, replacing the wax as it melts away. The term "lost wax" comes from the fact that the wax model is destroyed during the process, leaving behind the metal object. Additionally, the mold itself is also destroyed in the process, hence the alternate name "lost mold" technique.
