Description:
A rare and beautiful antique Annapakshi and Makara wooden corbel from Shekhawati, Rajasthan, circa 1930s, has been added to the Purathanam June Collection.
The carving depicts the Annapakshi, the sacred swan of Indian mythology, above the Makara, the legendary sea creature that appears as both guardian and symbol across South and North Indian temple architecture.
Finding both motifs within a single bracket carving is uncommon, making this a remarkable piece.
