Description:

In late 1800s, Hindu deities were used for marketing  in the form of posters and calenders to promote their brands and products. Popular companies from both India and England used Indian Gods and Goddesses as the brand ambassadors atleast until the 1960s’ to encourage Indian consumers. These were the vintage  branded merchandise of late 1880s.

Here is a lithograph print of Vishnu which was  printed in 1885 as a commercial poster for Dr. Waman Gopal’s Sarsaparila best Blood purifier.
