Description:

We have a beautiful, handmade Copper Kettle that is about 80 years old. The history of the copper kettle goes back thousands of years to ancient civilizations. Copper is known for its excellent heat conductivity and malleability, making it ideal for crafting utensils like kettles.

Copper has been used by humans for over 10,000 years. The process of extracting copper from its ore was discovered by early civilizations around 5000 BCE in the Middle East. Copper was widely used by ancient Indian civilizations such as the Indus Valley Civilization (3300-1300 BCE). Archaeological excavations have revealed copper artifacts, including utensils, tools, weapons, and decorative items, indicating the significance of copper in daily life and cultural practices.Copper became popular during the Middle Ages due to its efficient heat conduction for boiling water and cooking food.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, copper kettles evolved alongside technological advancements. Electric kettles gained popularity with the introduction of electricity, but traditional copper kettles were cherished for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and even heat distribution. They still have a special place in traditional and gourmet cooking, as they provide precise heat management.

In Ayurvedic medicine, copper has been highly regarded for its health benefits. According to Ayurveda, drinking water stored in copper vessels overnight helps balance the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and promotes overall well-being. Copper is believed to have antimicrobial properties and aid in digestion, among other therapeutic qualities. From ancient civilizations to modern times, copper continues to hold a special place in Indian traditions, craftsmanship, and everyday life.

Today, copper kettles are often used for decorative and nostalgic purposes. While they may not be commonly used for everyday cooking, they are cherished as ornamental pieces or for specific culinary tasks.
